ICIDH and the new WHO's ICF version

INDCP has been actively involved, since its foundation, in the International Classification of Impairments, Disabilities, and Handicaps (ICIDH) applications, critics and revision. It has contributed from 1998 to present, thanks to a rigorous research approach, to the Quebec classification «Disability Creation Process» (Fougeyrollas et al., 1998).

However, INDPC most reknown contribution has been the full recognition of environmental factors as a distinct conceptual dimension. Since the World Health Organization adopted the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF) in 2001, INDCP has been playing a critical role of reviewing its content, as well as suggesting new developments and improvements for a newer version. INDCP regularly cooperate with the Centre collaborateur français sur la CIH (CTNERHI) on these matters.

INDCP is currently member of the Advisor group of the french-speaking research and training network on Disability Classifications, whose creation was initiated by the French Collaborating Centre on ICF. This initiative reinforced its presence in French Europe (France, Belgium and Switzerland).

INDCP is also active in Canada: it works closely with the Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI) and the North American Collaborating Center on ICF.
